where i've been
This is just a little note saying I haven't forgotten about my blog, but as I have a very important exam in less than 2 weeks I just don't have the time to focus on it right now! I'm still reading, so if you have goodreads feel free to add me (http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/8319293-hollie-georgiana). I have a list as long as my arm of books I will review when I'm back from this little hiatus! x

"I know before she says it. “Beck’s not coming back.” I hear nothing else because the world goes black." Larkstorm - Dawn Rae Miller
I'm really liking this book so far! Sorry for my lack of posting, I've just started a new job and have a really important exam in 5 weeks so I don't have much time for blogging at the minute! However once this exam is over I'll be free 5 days of the week so I'll have plenty of time for reading and reviewing :)

THE LAST PRINCESS
Galaxy Craze
Release Date: May 1st 2012
Publisher: Poppy Books
Pages: 295
Rating: 2 out of 5
The main reason I didn't connect with this book was due to the writing style. I felt that everything was so rushed, everything happened at such a pace it was impossible to understand what was happening. I was constantly re-reading pages to check I hadn't missed important information, I hadn't, the information just wasn't there in the first place. It just felt disjointed and off to me :( There was just not enough details or depth.
Because of the fast pacing I also felt characterisation took a backseat. The plot was nicely thought out, and definitely appealed to me, but the characters felt somewhat lacking. I never really felt any connection to Eliza despite liking her as a main character. The romance was an additional thing I didn't like, it just seem sorta random and there was no development to it.
I also felt the world building could have been enhanced. We are kept in the dark about the 'Seventeen Days' which led to the destruction of the world, and I really would like to know more. However I'm pretty sure a sequel is planned, so I hope that it's expanded on and the crazy pacing issue is sorted. Despite what seems like a really negative review, the plot of the book was really interesting and if these issues were worked on I would definitely check out a sequel.

"A series of natural disasters has decimated the earth. Cut off from the rest of the world, England is a dark place. The sun rarely shines, food is scarce, and groups of criminals roam the woods, searching for prey. The people are growing restless. This was one of my most anticipated books of this year, so I was ecstatic when I finally had it in my hands. The cover art is amazing! From reading the synopsis I was absolutely certain I would love it: it's post-apocalyptic, located in the UK and about a plot to revolt against the royal family, perfect right? Except the only feeling I had when I finished it was one of pure disappointment.
When a ruthless revolutionary sets out to overthrow the crown, he makes the royal family his first target. Blood is shed in Buckingham Palace, and only sixteen-year-old Princess Eliza manages to escape.
Determined to kill the man who destroyed her family, Eliza joins the enemy forces in disguise. She has nothing left to live for but revenge, until she meets someone who helps her remember how to hope—and to love—once more. Now she must risk everything to ensure that she not become... The Last Princess."

"It was silent. I focused my hearing around the house, scrunching up my face with the loud onslaught, and I said into the air, “I’m not finished with you, Kaidan Rowe.” From somewhere in the kitchen a solitary accented voice replied, “Likewise.” Despite the night’s warmth, I got a chill. ." OBSIDIAN
Jennifer L.Armentrout
Release Date: 6 Dec 2011
Publisher: Entangled Publishing
Pages: 299
Source: bought
Rating: 5 out of 5
Jennifer's characters are always so well written, Katy I could immediately connect with. She's strong, independant and determined. I loved that she had a tendancy towards stubborness aswell. I thought it was cute that she was a book blogger, as we all can relate to that! It was nice to see her videoing her IMM posts, and writing up her Waiting on Wednesday post too!
Daemon, well I absolutely adored him. He's cocky, arrogant and sarcastic. Oh, and also an alien from a planet called Lux. It's hard to describe my actual feelings about Daemon, as I just loved him... Jennifer is an expert at crafting tension between characters, and she doesn't fail here. The chemisty between Katy and Daemon was unreal, and I loved that it was a love/hate relationship which developed throughout the novel instead of happening straight away. Dee also deserves an honourable mention, I loved how perky and happy she is. Like a little ball of sunshine!
There's not much more that I can say about Obsidian as I'm afraid it'll just turn into fan girl mushiness! This is a captivating story with fantastic characters, a brilliant thought out plot, buckets of sexual tension and plenty of action. If you've not read anything by J L.Armentrout before I highly reccomend this, and I promise you won't be dissapointed.

"Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all.Jennifer L.Armentrout is fastly becoming one of my favourite authors. She's amazing! I fall in love with everything she writes it seems and Obsidian is no different. Jennifer's writing is beautiful, her characters likeable and three dimensional. I read this after reading Half-Blood and Pure, so I was expecting a lot from it and it did not dissapoint.
But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is."
